Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this incredible cap & ball revolver today for a penny-start auction, this is the Colt London Armory 1851 Navy “London Model."
Colt produced the revolver in Hartford, Connecticut, and at its London Armory to supply European markets. The London-made examples, often referred to as the “London Model,” were manufactured from approximately 1853 to 1856, with roughly 42,000 units produced.

The Colt 1851 Navy Revolver is a .36-caliber, six-shot percussion revolver designed by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850. Recognizable for its octagonal barrel, elegant lines, and roll-engraved cylinder depicting a naval battle, the 1851 Navy became one of the most iconic revolvers of the 19th century, widely used on the American frontier and during the Civil War. Early examples were marketed as the “Ranger” or “Revolving Belt” model, but the “Navy” designation — referring to its .36-caliber “Naval” size — soon became standard. Colt produced the revolver in Hartford, Connecticut, and at its London Armory, with approximately 215,000 units built domestically and about 42,000 units in London, for a total of roughly 257,000. Production continued until 1873, when metallic-cartridge revolvers such as the Colt Single Action Army gradually replaced percussion designs. The 1851 Navy was among Colt’s most successful percussion revolvers, second only in production to the smaller Colt Pocket models.
