The Winchester Model 1892 is one of John Browning’s most successful lever-action designs, engineered as a lighter, more compact alternative to the Model 1886 and intended to replace the venerable Model 1873. Chambered here in .38 WCF (.38-40 Winchester), this carbine features a 20-inch blued barrel paired with a smooth walnut straight-grip stock and forearm, making it both durable and well-balanced for use in the field. Its blade front sight and adjustable rear sight provided dependable accuracy, while the slick, dual locking-block lever action gave it the strength to handle popular pistol calibers of the day.
