Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 24 is a classic American semi-automatic .22 rimfire rifle produced by Remington Arms from 1922 until 1935. Designed under license from John M. Browning, the Model 24 was one of Remington’s earliest take-down semi-automatic rifles, admired for its reliability, smooth operation, and practical portability. The rifle features a blowback semi-automatic action with a tubular magazine in the buttstock, capable of feeding .22 Short or .22 Long Rifle cartridges (depending on the specific rifle). Standard examples typically came with a 22-inch round barrel, open sights, and a walnut buttstock and forend, all finished in blued steel. The take-down design allowed the barrel and receiver to separate easily for transport or maintenance, making it popular with outdoorsmen, small-game hunters, and target shooters alike. During its production run, Remington built approximately 130,000 Model 24 rifles before introducing the Remington Model 241 as its successor, which incorporated an improved receiver and refined takedown mechanism. Today, the Model 24 remains appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts for its John Browning heritage, elegant design, and place in early 20th-century American rimfire history.
