Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this head-turning semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the Colt Government 1911A1 Pre-WWII Commercial!
According to the owner, this example is "original and almost brand new, having only seen about five rounds fired since being manufactured.” The owner also stated that this example did have a Colt Factory Archives letter with it when she purchased it. However, it has gotten misplaced over the years. She states that according to the Colt Archives Letter, it was manufactured in 1935 and shipped from Colt in 1936, and that is all she can recall. However, with those statements being said, please note that Bryant Ridge Co. does not have the documents attesting to the above information provided by the owner, and are only stating the information provided by the owner.
This Colt is, in fact, in Phenomenal condition, showing only very slight handling marks, making it an exceptional find for any collector.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985 through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as one of the most reliable handguns worldwide and provided plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. The design was the end result of a series of developments by famous gun designer John Browning, starting with the Model 1900. The advances made by Browning were revolutionary at the time and were so successful that they are considered commonplace today. Browning not only developed first a pivoting and then a tilting barrel to allow for a locked system, but he also developed the concept of “the slide,” which is now synonymous with semi-automatic handguns. Having secured a contract for the US Military sidearm, Colt also offered the pistol to the commercial market as the “Government Model.”
