This Winchester Model 12 is distinguished by an upgraded receiver featuring elegant scroll engraving surrounding a Gamble’s quail on the right side and a finely detailed dog vignette on the left, signed with the engraver’s initials, “N.H.” The work is attributed to Neil Hartliep, a highly respected American master engraver known for his refined sporting scenes and traditional scrollwork on high-grade firearms. Hartliep’s engravings are extremely sought after, with collectors valuing his pieces for their artistry, craftsmanship, and rarity, making engraved examples like this Model 12 especially desirable and highly collectible.
