Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The line of special purpose Model 70s, the Westerner 264 Winchester Magnum, was specifically designed for ultra long range shooting where high residual energy is a must. Extremely flat shooting, the Westerner is just the ticket for mountain and plains hunting, where distances are extreme and range estimation difficult, where the success or failure of a hard-earned hunting trip often depends on one vital shot. The 140 grain Power-Point bullet, moving out of the Westerner's stainless steel barrel at 3200 feet per second, gives you plus power for those long, long shots... packs a wallop that will anchor game way out at 500 yards and beyond. And as a prairie game, varmint, or predator load, the distance-shrinking 100 grain Soft Point bullet gets out there fast ... with almost three times more explosive punch at 500 yards than the reliable 220 Swift! It's the ideal all-around rifle... just right for weekend varmint shooting... a reliable, potent companion for Fall big game hunting!

The Winchester Model 70, often called "The Rifleman's Rifle," is a legendary bolt-action sporting rifle that has been a cornerstone of American hunting and shooting culture since its introduction in 1936. Known for its superior craftsmanship and reliability, the Model 70 features an action similar to that of Mauser rifles, a design developed from the earlier Winchester Model 54. Originally produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company from 1936 to 1980, the Model 70 became renowned for its accuracy, durability, and versatile performance. Production was briefly halted in 1980, and the rifle was then manufactured by the U.S. Repeating Arms Company, which operated until 2006. After production ceased in New Haven, Connecticut, FN Herstal, a Belgian company, acquired the rights to the Model 70 in 2007, relocating production to Columbia, South Carolina in 2012, and later to Portugal in 2013. Throughout its history, the Model 70 has been offered in many grades and styles, including high-quality versions. The Model 70 continues to be considered one of the finest bolt-action rifles in the world, praised for its craftsmanship and its status as an icon of American rifle design.
