Item Description
Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt Government Pre-70 Series!
The Colt Government Model pre–70 Series represents the classic commercial evolution of the M1911A1 before Colt introduced the Series 70 redesign in 1970. These earlier pistols retained the traditional, military-proven internals—no collet bushing, no Series 80 firing-pin safety, and the original short-style barrel throat—making them mechanically close to the wartime 1911A1 while benefiting from Colt’s higher commercial fit and finish. Produced through the 1960s, pre-70 Government Models are admired for their forged construction, clean rollmarks, deep polished blue or factory nickel finishes, and overall craftsmanship that many collectors feel represents Colt’s golden era. Their combination of classic styling, hand-fitted components, and historical continuity makes them highly desirable to both shooters and collectors today.
