The Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight is a lightweight variant of Ithaca’s classic Model 37 pump-action shotgun that was developed to give sportsmen the handling and carry advantages of a full-size working gun in a much lighter package. Mechanically, it retains the Model 37’s hallmark features — a solid, hammerless, bottom-ejecting, slide-action layout with dual action bars and a simple tubular magazine — so it preserves the family’s reputation for reliable cycling and ambidextrous usability (bottom ejection is friendly to left- or right-handed shooters). What defines the Featherlight is its weight-saving treatment: thinner barrel contours, lighter furniture and receiver treatments, and often a ventilated rib or slimmed forend and stock that make the gun noticeably easier to carry all day in the upland field.
