Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Single Action Frontier Scout is a compact rimfire revolver introduced in the late 1950s as Colt’s answer to the growing demand for affordable, Western-style single-action handguns. Scaled down from the full-size Single Action Army, the Frontier Scout retained the classic lines and handling of Colt’s iconic sixgun while being chambered in economical rimfire calibers such as .22 LR and .22 Magnum. To keep the revolver lightweight and accessible, Colt utilized an aluminum alloy frame paired with a steel barrel and cylinder, resulting in a handy, easy-shooting revolver well suited for training, plinking, and recreational shooting. Offered in a variety of finishes and configurations, the Frontier Scout became especially popular with younger shooters and enthusiasts seeking an authentic Colt experience in a smaller package.

From a collector's standpoint, the Frontier Scout holds an important place in Colt’s post-war revolver history as one of the company’s most successful rimfire single-action models. Early examples, particularly those with original finishes, correct grips, and dual-cylinder sets, are increasingly sought after as surviving examples become scarcer. While originally marketed as an entry-level Colt, the Frontier Scout’s connection to the Single Action Army lineage and its role in introducing generations of shooters to Colt revolvers have elevated its status among collectors. Today, it is appreciated both as a nostalgic shooter and as a representative example of Colt’s mid-20th-century innovation.
