The Colt Junior operates on a straightforward blowback action, which simplifies both its operation and maintenance. The six-round, single-stack magazine is easily accessible through a push-button magazine catch located on the bottom of the left grip panel. While the Junior lacks the grip safety found on earlier Colt pocket pistols, such as the Model 1908 Vest Pocket Hammerless, it compensates with its user-friendly operation and reliable function. Initially manufactured in Spain and imported to the U.S. in the 1950s, production of the Colt Junior continued until 1968, when the Gun Control Act of 1968 halted the importation of non-sporting firearms. Although Colt briefly resumed production in the early 1970s with parts sourced from Spain and assembled in the U.S., production ceased entirely in 1973. Despite its relatively short run, the Colt Junior remains a respected example of mid-20th-century American pocket pistols, blending Colt’s renowned craftsmanship with a compact design tailored for personal defense.
