Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this limited edition lever-action rifle today for a penny-start auction, this is the Winchester Model 94 “Illinois Sesquicentennial Commemorative!"
The Winchester Model 94 Illinois Sesquicentennial Commemorative was produced in 1968 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Illinois statehood, marking the years 1818–1968. Manufactured only that year, the rifles were serialized in the range IS1 through IS37,468 and came with distinctive features including an engraved receiver highlighted with a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, gold-finished accents on the trigger, saddle ring, loading gate, and butt plate, as well as a walnut stock inlaid with a medallion inscribed “Illinois Sesquicentennial / 1818-1968 / 150 Years of Progress.” In addition, the barrel near the receiver bears the commemorative marking “Illinois Sesquicentennial 1818-1968,” making the rifle a striking example of Winchester’s collectible Model 94 commemoratives. This particular example bears the serial #IS3405, which makes it number 3,405 out of the 37,468 made.

The Winchester Model 1894 rifle, also known as the Winchester 94 or Model 94, is a lever-action repeating rifle that was designed by John Browning in 1894. It originally used two metallic black powder cartridges, the .32-40 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester, but in 1895, it became the first rifle to use the smokeless powder round, the .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire), which later became known as the .30-30. The rifle was produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company until 1980 and later by U.S. Repeating Arms under the Winchester brand until 2006, when they ceased manufacturing rifles. Reproductions of the rifle are now being made by the Miroku company of Japan and imported into the United States by the Browning Arms Company of Morgan, Utah. The Model 1894 is often referred to as the "ultimate lever-action design" by firearms historians and was the first commercial sporting rifle to sell over 7,000,000 units.
