Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Browning Nomad is a semi-automatic .22 Long Rifle pistol introduced in 1962 by the Browning Arms Company and manufactured in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale d’Herstal (FN). Designed as the entry-level model in Browning’s .22 rimfire pistol line—alongside the more advanced Challenger and Medalist—it offered the same high-quality Belgian craftsmanship at a lower cost. The Nomad operated on a simple blowback action with a fixed barrel and 10-round magazine, and it was available with 4 1/2-inch or 6 3/4-inch barrels. Early production models featured lightweight alloy frames, though most later versions were made with steel frames for improved durability. Its clean design, reliability, and accuracy made it a favorite among recreational shooters despite being marketed as an economy model. Production continued until 1974 or early 1975, after which Browning shifted focus to newer rimfire designs such as the Challenger II and eventually the Buck Mark series.
