Introduced as a more refined variant of the popular Colt Frontier Scout, the New Frontier features a flat-top frame with fully adjustable rear sights and a ramp front sight—making it more suited for target shooting and precision work. Built to echo the design of the legendary Colt Single Action Army, the New Frontier was available in blue and color case-hardened finishes and came in several barrel lengths, including 4.4", 4 3/4", and 6". From 1970 to 1977, these revolvers were often sold with two cylinders—one for .22 LR and one for .22 Magnum—offering increased utility for shooters. From 1982 to 1986, the New Frontier was reintroduced with some changes, including a .22 LR-only cylinder and the addition of a cross-bolt safety. Whether used for plinking, small game hunting, or as a training revolver, the Colt New Frontier remains a beloved rimfire revolver with timeless appeal and enduring Colt craftsmanship.
