Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
High Standard’s “The Sharpshooter” is a purpose-built .22 LR target pistol from the company’s Model 103 family, designed as an affordable, accurate shooter for bullseye and general target work. It typically sports a heavy (bull) barrel — commonly around 5½" — a recessed target crown, removable front sight and an adjustable micrometer rear (or micrometer-style) sight, and feeds from a 10-round single-stack magazine. The Sharpshooter was marketed as a successor to High Standard’s Tournament models and offered the features target shooters wanted without the top-tier price of the Supermatic Trophy/Olympic lines. Mechanically the Sharpshooter is a single-action, blowback .22 pistol with a grip angle and controls familiar to service-pistol competitors—one reason High Standard pistols were popular among NRA Bullseye shooters: they translated naturally to 1911-style hold and sighting technique while using cheap, low-recoil .22 ammo for practice and competition. Build quality and accuracy are generally praised in owner accounts and collector write-ups; the Sharpshooter’s heavy barrel and match crown give it stable handling and good inherent accuracy for the class.
