Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Lawman MKIII is a fixed-sight, service-type revolver introduced by Colt as a more utilitarian counterpart to the adjustable-sight Trooper MKIII. Early examples featured a narrow, grooved service-type hammer and matching trigger, while later production adopted the wider target-style hammer used on the Trooper. Original grips were slim, service-style panels, though many later models—especially those finished in Nickel or Coltguard—were fitted with larger target-style grips. The Lawman MKIII was offered with either a heavy 4-inch or a compact 2-inch barrel. Early 2-inch versions had an exposed ejector rod like the 4-inch model, but Colt later introduced a heavier, shrouded-barrel design that gave the snub-nose a more solid, balanced look. The 4-inch version always retained the exposed ejector rod. The distinctive 2-inch model also featured a rounded butt with special grips not used on any other Colt revolver. Finishes included bright blue, bright nickel, and satin electroless nickel, with all models chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge.
