The Ruger No. 3 is a single-shot rifle that was produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co from 1973 to 1986. It is based on the No. 1 Single Shot Rifle.The receivers were virtually identical, but the No. 3 sported a simpler, double-curved finger lever, the barrels were shorter on the No. 3 such as 22" compared to 26" and the No.3 featured open sights. The stock of the No. 3 was less refined than the No. 1. It was substantial constructed of straight-grained walnut with no checkering. The No. 3 was chambered in a variety of calibers such as .22 Hornet, .223 Remington, .30-40 Krag, .375 Winchester, .44 Magnum, and .45-70.
