Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Peacemaker .22 was introduced in 1970, marking a major advancement in Colt’s rimfire single-action revolvers by closely replicating the construction and appearance of the full-size Single Action Army. Unlike earlier .22 models, the Peacemaker featured a steel receiver and loading gate, paired with an aluminum alloy grip frame, giving it a more authentic and substantial feel. It was equipped with traditional fixed sights and shipped either with a .22 LR cylinder alone or as a dual-cylinder set including both .22 LR and .22 Magnum, with no Magnum-only versions produced. Barrel lengths were offered in 4 3/4 inches (later shortened to 4.4 inches), 6 inches, and 7 1/2 inches, all with rounded crowns. Early Magnum cylinders were fluted, which later transitioned to unfluted in mid-1971. Produced from 1970 to 1977, these revolvers have become highly prized by collectors for their exceptional craftsmanship, authentic Single Action Army styling, and historical significance, making them a standout addition to any Colt or firearm collection. Additionally, Colt released several commemoratives, often celebrating state centennials, territorial anniversaries, or historic events, featuring engraved frames, special markings, unique finishes, or presentation packaging. These commemorative editions are particularly prized by collectors and represent some of the most sought-after examples today.
