Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this Ultra-Rare and Highly Desirable double-action revolver for a penny-start auction…this is the Colt Viper!
The Colt Viper is the rarest sister model of such classics as the Python, Cobra, Agent, Bankers Special, and Detective Special models!
According to the Factory Letter, this Colt Viper was shipped to Bells Gun & Sport Shop at 3315 Mannheim Road Franklin Park, Illinois, on September 30, 1977, in a shipment of only 3 guns!
The owner states that this example remains New Old Stock and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Viper was an aluminum-framed version of the post-1972 Colt Police Positive Special, produced from 1977 to 1984. It was chambered in .38 Special and featured a 4-inch barrel, available in either blue or bright nickel finishes. The Viper was equipped with walnut grips similar to those on the post-1972 Detective Special and Cobra but with slightly longer grips to accommodate the revolver's design. Though it was made for nearly a decade, production numbers were relatively low, making the Viper one of the rarer Colt revolvers. As part of Colt's famed "snake gun" series, it is particularly sought after by collectors aiming to complete their collection of revolvers named after snakes. Apart from the choice of finish, there were no other major variations of the Viper, making it a distinctive yet simple piece in Colt's lineup.
