The Ruger M77 is a classic American bolt-action sporting rifle from Sturm, Ruger & Company that has enjoyed an exceptionally long production life and a loyal following since its introduction in 1968, and was designed by L. James Sullivan to be a modernized interpretation of the legendary Mauser 98 system tailored for hunting and general-purpose use.
