Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 19 is a double-/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum and .38 Special, built on the square-butt K Target frame with four screws. It was offered in blued or nickel finishes. Early production featured a 4-inch ribbed barrel with a 1/8-inch Baughman Quick-Draw front sight on a plain ramp base, paired with a micrometer-click adjustable rear sight. Later production introduced 2 1/2-inch and 6-inch pinned barrels with a Patridge front sight. Three-inch barrels are rare, with the earliest known example believed to be serial K544677 from 1965; 5-inch barrels are also scarce. Trigger options included a .400-inch target trigger, a .265-inch service trigger, or a .312-inch smooth combat trigger, with an optional trigger stop available for the wide trigger. Hammer choices were .375-inch semi-target or .500-inch full-target. The revolver featured oversized walnut target stocks with S&W medallions.

Later variants incorporated a red-ramp front sight with a white-outline rear sight. The round-butt configuration was offered only on the 2 1/2-inch model. Additional features include a shrouded extractor rod, a six-shot fluted and counterbored cylinder, and a frame slightly larger than a standard K frame in the yoke area. Early frames have a six-groove backstrap and forestrap, while later frames feature a 10-groove serrated pattern. The Model 19 was produced circa 1955–1999.
