The Walther PP is a historic German semi-automatic pistol that helped define the modern double-action service handgun when it was introduced by Carl Walther GmbH in 1929. The designation “PP” stands for Polizeipistole (police pistol), reflecting its original intended role as a compact yet capable sidearm for uniformed and plainclothes police officers. Chambered most commonly in .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) and .380 ACP (9mm Kurz), though also produced in .22 LR and .25 ACP variants, the Walther PP operates on a simple blowback system and features a fixed barrel that contributes to its inherent accuracy despite its relatively small size.
