Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction; this is the Smith & Wesson 559, also known as the 2nd Generation 9mm 14-shot!

 

The Smith & Wesson 559 was only manufactured from 1980-1982. 

This example was manufactured in 1982 and is one of only 1,636 produced in Nickel!!

 

The owner states that this example remains New Old Stock, and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The S&W 559 is an all-steel variant of the 'Second Generation' alloy frame model 459. This pistol is a double-action (DA/SA), recoil-operated semi-automatic. Features Nickel Finish, slide-mounted safety/decocking lever, serrated backstrap and fore strap, lanyard loop on the butt, and a 14-Round double-stack magazine. The gun was introduced in 1980, with shipments starting in 1981, at approximately serial number A672,725. The majority of the guns were produced with the short wide extractor. Only 200 to 250 were supplied with the long extractor. After production of 10,609 units, 8,973 in blue finish and 1,636 in nickel, the gun was discontinued in October 1982.
