Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this desirable semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the Smith & Wesson / Ashland Shooting Supplies 469 “The Mini”, also known as the 2nd Generation Compact!
The Smith & Wesson Model 469, famously nicknamed “The Mini,” was unveiled in 1983 as part of the company’s esteemed 2nd Generation series of compact semi-automatic pistols, remaining in production until 1989. While the standard Model 469 featured a durable blue sandblast finish, a limited run of pistols in satin nickel was produced exclusively for Ashland Shooting Supplies during the summer of 1984. These distinctive pistols, identifiable by the stunning Satin Nickel finishes and the serial prefix “TAB,” are highly coveted by collectors for their rarity, craftsmanship, and historical significance.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 469, commonly referred to as “The Mini”, was introduced in 1983 as part of the company’s 2nd Generation series of compact semi-automatic pistols and remained in production until 1989. Constructed with a short alloy frame and a steel slide, this traditional double-action 9mm offered full-power performance in a compact, easily concealable configuration, representing a significant advancement in Smith & Wesson’s development of compact autoloaders. The pistol weighed 26 ounces and featured a 3 1/2-inch barrel, a 12-round magazine, a .260-inch bobbed hammer, a .365-inch smooth trigger, and a manual safety, complemented by a squared trigger guard and a three-piece pebble-grain molded Delrin grip bearing the S&W monogram. Its sighting system consisted of a 1/8-inch serrated ramp front sight with a yellow bar and a white-outline rear sight, drift-adjustable for windage. The Model 469 was produced primarily in a blue sandblast finish; however, a limited run in satin nickel was manufactured exclusively for Ashland Shooting Supplies in the summer of 1984, and can be identified by the serial prefix “TAB".

Today, these are particularly prized by collectors. Initially referred to as the “Mini-gun”, the pistol’s design drew inspiration from custom Devel pistols, emphasizing compact ergonomics and carry-friendly handling without compromising firepower. Production concluded in April 1989 with the introduction of the 3rd Generation Model 6904, by which time approximately 97,261 units had been manufactured, securing the Model 469’s status as a notable milestone in the evolution of Smith & Wesson’s compact semi-automatic pistols.
