The Colt Sheriff’s Model Texas Sesquicentennial revolver stands as a striking tribute to the proud heritage and enduring spirit of the Lone Star State. Produced in 1985 to commemorate Texas’s 150th anniversary, this limited-edition revolver was officially sanctioned as the state’s sesquicentennial handgun, with only 1,000 examples crafted. Each revolver was lavishly adorned with gold chemical etching that celebrates key symbols of Texas history and identity. From the outline of the state and the commemorative dates “1836–1986” on the barrel to the etched longhorn steers, cowboy scene, and “Republic of Texas” insignia, every detail reflects the state’s rugged independence and frontier legacy. The barrel also has a thin gold inlaid barrel band at the front and rear. The non-fluted cylinder is chemically etched in gold, with the “Republic of Texas” insignia on the left and an early replica of the State of Texas flag on the right. The backstrap has a replica of the Alamo chemically etched at the top, with the inscription “COME AND TAKE IT” descending the length of the backstrap.
