Item Description
Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this incredible semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the Colt MKIV Series 80 Lightweight Officer's ACP!
The Colt Officer’s ACP was introduced in 1985 to be a more compact semi-automatic (single-action) pistol that was based on John M. Browning’s legendary M1911 design. Developed in response to growing demand for smaller, concealable 1911-style handguns, it offered the full power of the .45 ACP cartridge in a more compact and easily carried form. The original all-steel Officer’s ACP was introduced in 1985. In 1986, Colt introduced the Lightweight Officer’s ACP, which used an aluminum alloy frame to reduce weight by roughly 10 ounces while maintaining the same dimensions and operating system.
This particular Colt MKIV Series 80 Lightweight Officer's ACP was made in 1986, which makes it a first year production model.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Officer’s ACP was introduced in 1985 to be a more compact semi-automatic (single-action) pistol that was based on John M. Browning’s legendary M1911 design. Developed in response to growing demand for smaller, concealable 1911-style handguns, it offered the full power of the .45 ACP cartridge in a more compact and easily carried form. The original all-steel Officer’s ACP featured a 3.5-inch barrel with an overall length of 7.5-inch, while weighing 34-ounces, and came with a 6-round magazine—all of which distinguishing it from the larger full-size Government Model. In 1986, Colt introduced the Lightweight Officer’s ACP, which used an aluminum alloy frame to reduce weight by roughly 10 ounces while maintaining the same dimensions and operating system. Retaining the traditional M1911 features such as the grip safety, manual thumb safety, and single-action trigger, the Officer’s ACP and Lightweight Officer's ACP gained popularity among law enforcement officers and civilians for its compactness and reliability. It also laid the groundwork for later designs like the Concealed Carry Officer’s (CCO) model, which combined the shorter Officer’s frame with a Commander-length slide for improved balance and recoil control.
