Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Anschütz Exemplar is a purpose-built bolt-action rimfire pistol manufactured by J.G. Anschütz in Germany from the late 1980s into the 1990s and chambered for .22 Long Rifle. Built on Anschütz’s match-grade actions, it brings rifle-level precision to a pistol platform with a 10-inch bull barrel and a receiver grooved for scope mounting. Ergonomics favour competition use, with target walnut stocks featuring a stippled, contoured grip and forestock. The trigger is a genuine, fully adjustable two-stage target unit set for an exceptionally light, crisp break; sights include a hooded blade front and an adjustable U-notch rear. Some Exemplar models were single-shot bench pistols while others used detachable magazines, and they were offered in both right- and left-hand configurations to suit individual shooters. Produced in relatively small numbers, the Exemplar earned a reputation among silhouette, bench-pistol, and precision rimfire competitors for outstanding fit, finish, and accuracy—capable of producing groups that rival many bench rifles—making it a specialist’s tool rather than an everyday field handgun.
