The Ruger Mark II is a highly refined and enduringly popular .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic pistol, produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. from 1982 until 2005. As the direct successor to the original Ruger Standard Model and Mark I, the Mark II incorporated several key improvements that enhanced its functionality, safety, and user-friendliness while retaining the classic aesthetic and blowback-operated design that made the series iconic. One of the most significant upgrades was the addition of a bolt hold-open feature, allowing the bolt to lock back after the final round—a critical feature missing in earlier models. The Mark II also featured a redesigned magazine with a plastic follower button and a greater magazine capacity of 10 rounds.
