Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this RARE and DESIRABLE semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt Government Ultra Ten!
Colt’s Ultra Ten was a late-1980s Custom Shop/limited-edition take on the 1911 platform chambered in 10mm, produced to answer growing interest in the powerful 10mm cartridge and to offer a high-end, factory-built custom 1911 with competition/tactical features (compensators, adjustable sights, upgraded controls and fitment) that appealed to collectors and performance shooters. The pistols were built in Colt’s custom shop around 1989 and are widely documented as a limited run — most surviving listings and collector records identify the Ultra Ten as a 1-of-400 (custom shop) production.
This example bears the Serial Number UE060, making this the 60th example EVER PRODUCED of ONLY 400!

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Colt’s Ultra Ten was a Custom Shop response to late-1980s interest in the high-power 10mm Auto cartridge and the performance shooters who wanted a factory-built, competition/tactical 1911 in that chambering. The 10mm had drawn renewed attention after the Bren Ten and the rising popularity of the Delta Elite, and Colt used the Custom Shop to offer a hand-fitted, feature-rich 1911 that combined match-grade components with extras like compensators and upgraded sights to appeal to shooters who wanted maximum performance straight from the factory. Mechanically the Ultra Ten follows the 1911 gold-standard approach but with competition-oriented upgrades: a 5.0" (approx.) compensated National-match style barrel, tuned slide/frame fitment, premium sights (BoMar/Millet styles on many examples), and other Custom Shop tweaks such as an enhanced trigger and improved feed ramps. Some Ultra Ten examples were personalized or finished by well-known customizers (Eddie Jimenez appears on several documented examples), which further differentiates individual pistols within the run. Production was intentionally small — contemporary records and multiple dealer/collector references consistently report the Ultra Ten as a limited Custom Shop run of about 400 pistols, built around 1989. That production figure (commonly stated as “1 of 400” in rollmarks, paperwork and collector listings) is the primary hard number used by collectors and appears across Custom Shop sales and forum research. Historically the Ultra Ten sits at the intersection of Colt’s embrace of the 10mm era and the company’s Custom Shop craftsmanship: it represents Colt’s effort to offer a premium, factory-built 10mm 1911 with competition-grade features at a time when demand for the cartridge was waxing and waning. Today the Ultra Ten is regarded as a standout late-1980s Colt specialty piece — technically interesting for its 10mm hardware and Custom Shop pedigree, and historically notable as part of Colt’s early embrace of the powerful 10mm round.
