Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this outstanding double/single-action revolver today for a penny-start auction, this is the Smith & Wesson Model 625-3, also known as the Model of 1989 .45 Stainless.
This Smith & Wesson Model 625-3, Model of 1989 .45 Stainless, was produced in the first year of production. According to the Spec Order #9338, this example was produced on December 4, 1989.

The Smith & Wesson Model 625, Model of 1989 .45 Stainless is a double/single-action N-frame revolver chambered in either .45 ACP or .45 Colt (not interchangeable), built on the round-butt N-Target frame with the traditional three-screw configuration. It features a six-shot fluted cylinder with a nominal length of approximately 1.55 inches. The model was originally introduced with a 5-inch full-lug barrel, with production including 3-inch and 4-inch barrel variants. Early examples were fitted with a round-butt N-Target frame with 10-groove serrated backstrap and forestrap, originally shipped with Pachmayr SN/GR grips before later transitioning to Hogue Monogrips. Sighting consists of a pinned, serrated black ramp front sight on a ramp base paired with a micrometer-click adjustable rear sight. Standard features include a .400" semi-target hammer, .312" smooth combat trigger, half-moon clip capability, and a non-glare glass-beaded matte stainless finish. The model’s introduction and nomenclature are somewhat unusual. The first production variant was designated with a dash-two (-2) engineering change, and early revolvers are found marked both “Model of 1988” and “Model of 1989.” A side-by-side comparison shows that the “Model of 1988” examples have traditional roll-stamped barrel markings, while the “Model of 1989” versions feature laser-etched markings. Aside from these markings, the two early variants are virtually identical in construction and appearance. In continuous production since 1989, the Model 625 has earned a strong following among revolver enthusiasts and competitors for its robust build quality, exceptionally smooth action, and reliable use of .45 ACP with or without moon clips—though extraction is significantly improved when clips are used.
