Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger 77/22 is a bolt-action rimfire rifle introduced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. in the early 1980s (Ruger production records list the model starting in 1983; some period accounts cite 1984 for early shipments). It was created to chamber small cartridges such as .22 Long Rifle, .22 WMR, and .22 Hornet centerfire offerings in the 77 line, and it employs Ruger’s detachable rotary magazine that fits flush with the bottom of the stock for snag-free handling. The 77/22 follows the design language of the M77 Mark II family—cold hammer-forged barrels, an integral scope-mount receiver, a stainless bolt with a 90° throw, and a three-position safety—while adapting those features to the rimfire/varmint role. A related model, the Ruger 77/17, was added to Ruger’s 77-series later (Ruger rollmarks show 77/17 introductions in the 2000s) and uses the same flush-mount rotary magazine and short bolt throw, but is chambered for .17-caliber rounds such as .17 HMR, .17 WSM, and .17 Hornet, depending on the specific variant.

The “All-Weather” 77/22 variants paired stainless metal finishes with synthetic Zytel-style (often called “boat-paddle”) stocks intended for rugged, low-maintenance use; these All-Weather/boat-paddle examples are well documented in Ruger’s product line and collector/sales records and are prized by some shooters as capable varmint rifles with 20" barrels and reliable feeding.
