Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this well-liked semi-automatic pistol for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt MKIV Series 80 Government Enhanced! 
 
As indicated in the accompanying factory letter, this Colt Government Model MKIV Semi-Automatic Pistol "Series 80" Enhanced Model features several distinctive elements, including a flat-top slide, scalloped ejection port, beavertail grip safety, a combat-style hammer with an elongated hole, angled rear slide serrations, a long trigger, and a relief cut beneath the trigger guard. It was shipped to Valor Corporation (Law) at 5555 NW 36th Avenue, Miami, Florida, on August 17, 1995.

Created by American firearms inventor John Browning, it introduced revolutionary advancements in firearm design, making it the first truly successful self-loading pistol. In 1983, Colt introduced the Mark IV Series 80, a significant redesign that added a crucial safety feature to the classic 1911 platform: a firing pin block system. This system ensured that the pistol would not discharge if dropped or subjected to a hard impact, making the Series 80 a safer option compared to earlier models. The Series 80 also retained many of the signature features of the original 1911, including the long trigger and flat mainspring housing, while incorporating a barrel bushing similar to the Series 70. Its success was immediate, with the Series 80 becoming the standard for Colt and other 1911 manufacturers. Despite the resurgence of the Series 70 in recent years, the Series 80 design remains the most widely produced and sold variant of the 1911, highlighting its lasting influence and appeal to both commercial and military/law enforcement markets.
