Exclusively distributed by Lew Horton Distributing Co., the Shorty Forty was a highly anticipated series of limited-edition models, carefully crafted in collaboration with Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center. These pistols were released in three separate production runs, each comprising only 500 units, making them rare and highly sought-after collector items. These production runs took place in 1992, 1993, and 1995, with each year’s release showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality, precision, and innovation.

Chambered in .40 S&W, it features a lightweight aluminum alloy frame and a carbon steel slide, weighing approximately 27 ounces. Handcrafted by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, the Shorty Forty includes high-end features such as oversized slide rails for improved fit and function, a bobbed hammer to minimize snagging, a beveled trigger for a smoother pull, and Novak Lo-Mount Carry sights with a drift-adjustable rear and dovetailed front. Each pistol is custom-tuned by Performance Center gunsmiths and marked with the center’s distinctive logo.
