Its double-action/single-action mechanism is paired with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and ambidextrous levers, allowing a smooth first double-action pull followed by crisp single-action shots, while a staggered-column magazine holds 11 rounds of .40 ammunition in most configurations. The standard 4-inch barrel and low-profile Novak or three-dot adjustable sights give the pistol a practical balance of accuracy and concealability for duty or defensive use, and the wraparound Xenoy grip was advanced for its time, improving ergonomics over earlier designs.
