The Ruger Red Label is an American-made over-and-under shotgun introduced in 1977 as Sturm, Ruger & Co.’s entry into the competitive double-barrel sporting market. Manufactured in the United States, the Red Label was designed to offer shooters a domestically produced alternative to the many European over-and-under shotguns that dominated the field. It featured a solid steel receiver, hammer-forged barrels, and a tang-mounted safety that also functioned as a barrel selector. Available in a variety of gauges—including 12, 20, 28, and .410—the Red Label was offered with multiple barrel lengths and choke configurations, making it suitable for upland hunting, clay target shooting, and general sporting use.
