The Smith & Wesson CS9 Chief’s Special is a compact, third-generation semi-automatic pistol designed to deliver reliable defensive performance in a highly concealable package. Introduced in the mid-1990s, the CS9 is part of Smith & Wesson’s “Chief’s Special” line, which emphasized reduced size and weight while maintaining duty-grade durability. Chambered in 9×19mm, it features an aluminum alloy frame, stainless steel slide, and a traditional double-action/single-action operating system with a slide-mounted safety/decocker. Its short barrel, rounded contours, and slim profile make it especially well-suited for concealed carry, while its solid construction ensures consistent reliability under demanding conditions.
