The Smith & Wesson Model 40-1, commonly known as the Centennial, is a compact double-action-only revolver produced by Smith & Wesson and built on the company’s small J-frame platform. Chambered in .38 Special, the Model 40-1 represents an evolution of the original Smith & Wesson Model 40 design that was first introduced in the early 1950s as part of a series of revolvers commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary.
