The SIG Sauer P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol introduced in 2014 that transformed modern service and carry pistols by putting the fire-control unit (the serialized “core”) inside a removable chassis so one basic pistol can be reconfigured for different sizes and calibers; that modular idea is why the P320 was adopted (in modified form) as the U.S. Army’s M17/M18 and why it quickly became a hugely influential platform. Wilson Combat’s WCP320 line is simply Wilson’s gunsmith-level response to that modular platform: Wilson takes SIG-manufactured P320 components and reworks them with Wilson’s own P320 grip module, re-machined slides (X-TAC serrations on many models), performance battle sights, upgraded finishes and fit/finish work, and other ergonomic touches aimed at improving trigger feel, grip ergonomics, and carry-readiness. The goal is not to reinvent the P320 but to tune it — heavier feel where wanted, crisper controls, improved sights and machining tolerances — so buyers who want the P320’s modularity also get Wilson Combat’s higher-end fit, finish, and handling. When choosing between a stock SIG P320 and a Wilson Combat WCP320 the tradeoffs are straightforward: the SIG gives you the baseline modular system, broad parts/support, and generally lower price; the Wilson gives you refined ergonomics, upgraded sights/slide work, and a boutique gunsmithing finish (with the corresponding premium).
