The Colt Anaconda represents the continuation of Colt’s legendary Snake Gun series, originally introduced in 1990 as the company’s return to large-frame double-action revolvers. Built on a massive stainless-steel frame with a transfer bar safety action, the original Anaconda was engineered to handle the powerful .44 Magnum and .45 Colt cartridges with strength and reliability. Offered in multiple barrel lengths, including 4", 6", and 8", the revolver became a favorite among hunters and enthusiasts for its robust design, accuracy, and distinctive styling. Its various finishes, Magna-porting options, and limited production runs made it a highly sought-after revolver, with the first-generation models produced until 1999 and later revived as a Custom Shop offering from 2002 to 2006.
