Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The CZ-75, designed by brothers Josef and František Koucký and first produced at Ceská zbrojovka’s Uherský Brod factory in 1975, quickly became one of the most influential service pistols of the modern era. Building on a Czech tradition of precision firearms, the CZ-75 introduced several hallmark features — a slide that rides inside the frame rails, a low bore axis, all-steel construction, a double-stack 9mm magazine, and a hammer-forged barrel — producing a controllable, soft-shooting pistol that helped define the “wonder-nine” category. In 1993, CZ formalized the B series: the CZ-75 B refined the evolution of the original CZ-75 by adding an internal firing-pin block safety, a squared trigger guard, and a ring hammer while retaining the classic ergonomics, durability, and accuracy that made the platform a benchmark. Collectors and shooters prize both the CZ-75 and the CZ-75 B for their thoughtful engineering, reliable performance, and excellent shootability, cementing the design’s enduring reputation in modern handgun history.
