Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Sig Sauer P226 40th Anniversary Limited Edition is a full-size, 9mm collector’s pistol that pays tribute to the original 1984 P226 developed for the XM9 service pistol trials. Chambered in 9x19mm and shipped with two 15-round magazines (15+1 capacity), it features a 4.4-inch stainless steel barrel mounted under a Nitron-finished stainless slide with rear serrations and Siglite tritium front/rear sights. The pistol uses the traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) system with a manual decocker on the left side, and retro Hogue-style alloy grips for period-authentic ergonomics. The finish and styling closely resemble the original 1980s release, while modern manufacturing ensures reliability and performance. Collectors will appreciate the original-style packaging, vintage-inspired user manual, and limited-edition “History of the P226” booklet, making this edition both a usable firearm and a commemorative keepsake.

The 40th Anniversary P226 also nods to its storied service history, including adoption as the Mk25 by U.S. Naval Special Warfare units in 1989 and long-standing use in FBI training and international law enforcement agencies. Sig Sauer’s multi-century heritage, tracing back to Sauer & Sohn (1751) and the Swiss SIG company (1853), underscores the craftsmanship and legacy behind this iconic pistol. The 40th Anniversary P226 combines historic styling with full-size handling suitable for collectors and shooters alike.
