Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The American Western Arms (AWA) Peacekeeper is a modern reproduction of the legendary Colt Single Action Army (SAA) revolver, designed to capture the spirit and handling of the Old West while incorporating the precision and quality control of contemporary manufacturing. Built with cowboy action shooting and historical enthusiasts in mind, the Peacekeeper was AWA’s flagship model, introduced during the 1990s to provide a reliable, accurate, and competitively priced alternative to more expensive reproductions. Chambered in classic calibers like .45 Colt and .357 Magnum, and available in a variety of barrel lengths—typically 4.75", 5.5", and 7.5"—the Peacekeeper features a traditional fixed-sight layout, a finely tuned single-action trigger, and a four-click hammer cycle that mimics the authentic feel of original 19th-century six-shooters. What set the AWA Peacekeeper apart was its commitment to traditional aesthetics combined with upgraded metallurgy and tighter machining tolerances. Its frame was built from investment-cast steel, with many models showcasing color case-hardened finishes and richly blued barrels, giving it the handsome and historically accurate look collectors admire. The revolver was known for its smooth action and durable build, making it a popular choice among cowboy action shooters who demanded reliability and speed. The Peacekeeper’s walnut grips, often adorned with a medallion, provided a solid hold and classic appearance. Though American Western Arms ceased operations in the early 2000s, the Peacekeeper remains a sought-after firearm for its nostalgic appeal, practical performance, and role in helping revitalize interest in Old West shooting sports during the late 20th century.
