Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this WWII-era bolt-action rifle for a penny-start auction; this example is a Type 38 Rifle chambered for 6.5x50mm.

The Type 38 rifle is a bolt-action military rifle adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905, corresponding to the 38th year of the Meiji era—hence its designation. It served as the standard-issue infantry rifle for Japanese forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War and much of World War II. Chambered in the 6.5×50mmSR Arisaka cartridge, the Type 38 was known for its reliability and low recoil, though its cartridge was often criticized for lacking stopping power. As a result, the more powerful 7.7mm Type 99 rifle was introduced later in the war to supplement it. Despite this, the Type 38 remained in widespread use alongside the Type 99 until the end of the conflict.
