Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this double/single-action revolver today for a penny-start auction, this is the Belgian Pinfire Revolver!

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Belgian pinfire revolvers are mid-19th-century small arms, many of which were produced in and around Liège, that utilized the distinctive pinfire cartridge — a self-contained round with a tiny protruding pin struck by the hammer to ignite the primer — making them among the first practical metallic-cartridge revolvers to gain widespread use. Built both as military models (notably Lefaucheux-pattern pieces) and an enormous variety of civilian pocket and belt pistols, they ranged in calibers from roughly 7mm up to 12mm. They were offered as inexpensive utilitarian copies as well as finely engraved presentation pieces. The pinfire design simplified loading and firing compared to muzzleloaders, which helped drive the transition to cartridge arms across continental Europe; today, many surviving examples can be identified and dated by Liège proof marks and makers’ stamps, and they remain popular with collectors for their historical significance and variety.
