The Beretta 81FS is a compact double-stack semi-automatic handgun produced by the historic Italian manufacturer Beretta as part of the well-known Beretta 80-series pistols, often referred to by enthusiasts as the “Cheetah” line. Chambered in .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning), the Model 81FS was designed as a lightweight yet capable service and police pistol that combined comfortable handling with relatively high magazine capacity for its caliber. The pistol operates on a straight blowback system and features an aluminum alloy frame paired with a steel slide, resulting in a durable handgun that remains relatively light and well-balanced. One of its defining characteristics is the double-stack magazine, which typically holds 12 rounds of .32 ACP, giving the pistol a notable capacity advantage compared to many other pistols chambered for the same cartridge. The 81FS is a double-action/single-action design, allowing the first shot to be fired with a longer double-action trigger pull, followed by lighter single-action shots as the slide cycles. The “FS” variant incorporates Beretta’s slide-mounted safety and decocking lever, allowing the hammer to be safely lowered on a loaded chamber while also serving as a manual safety.
