The Beretta PX4 Storm Special Duty (SD) Type F in .45 ACP was developed in response to the stringent requirements issued by U.S. Special Operations Command for a rugged, high-performance tactical sidearm. Rather than simply adapting an existing design, Beretta extensively reengineered the PX4 platform to meet extreme military standards for reliability and durability in harsh environments, including exposure to sand, mud, salt, water, and extreme weather. The pistol features an extended 4.5-inch cold hammer–forged barrel that maximizes ballistic performance, while Beretta’s rotating barrel system reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise by dispersing recoil forces radially. This design enhances controllability and accuracy, even when firing higher-pressure .45 ACP loads.
