The Ashland Smith & Wesson 617 is the material of legend. According to our research, when Smith & Wesson first started production of the 617 that only very few were produced with the standard barrel "without the full underlug that would be the standard on all models". These were never released to the public until Ashland Distributors purchased all of them. There is not an exact number of these models that we can find, however our research shows that less than 200 were produced with the Target Hammer and Trigger. The target models are the extremely rare versions of an already extraordinarily rare production run. Truly a masterpiece worthy of being the centerpiece of any serious S&W collection.
