*SOLD* 1947 Marlin 39-A .22 S,L,LR Blue 24" *AMAZING THIRD MODEL 1ST VARIATION*

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

The Marlin Model 39 is considered one of the oldest continuously produced rifles in the world, with its roots tracing back to John Marlin's Model 1891. This rifle gained fame after being used by renowned sharpshooters like Annie Oakley. It was later redesigned into the Model 1897, eventually becoming the Model 39 in 1922. In 1939, the "39-A" model designation was introduced. The "third series" of the Model 39 debuted in 1946, followed by changes such as the addition of a fluted comb in the Third Model second variation, produced between 1951 and 1953. This was followed by the Third Model third variation, which ran from 1954 to 1957. In 1953, Marlin introduced its "Micro-Groove" rifling, a distinctive feature that contributed to the rifle’s performance. While these updates were largely incremental, the Marlin 39 has remained a remarkably consistent design, with over two million units produced during its long production run. It has earned a reputation for its unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

At a time when many manufacturers have opted for cheaper materials like plastic and stamped steel, the Marlin 39A stands out for its traditional craftsmanship. The rifle retains the classic feel of walnut wood, the elegant look of bluing, and the durability of machined forgings—hallmarks of its enduring appeal. Few firearms, especially .22 rifles, evoke the sense of being true heirlooms—guns worthy of being passed down through generations. The Marlin 39A has earned this rare distinction, remaining one of the finest rifles ever made.
