*SOLD* 1957 Marlin 336RC Carbine .30-30 Win Blue 20" *DESIRABLE "JM" STAMPED*
Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Marlin Model 336, introduced in 1948, is a highly regarded lever-action rifle known for its durability and versatility. Available in calibers such as .30-30 Winchester and .35 Remington, the rifle is typically found with 20- or 24-inch barrels, though the 24-inch version is currently only available in .30-30 Winchester. Although production of the Model 336 has ceased, its legacy as a reliable and powerful firearm for hunting and sport shooting remains. The rifle is an evolution of the earlier Model 36, and its design improvements—such as a side ejection port, stronger chrome-plated breech bolt, and updated cartridge carrier—enhanced its performance and reliability. Its steel-forged receiver and major working parts ensure longevity and solid construction, making it a trusted choice for enthusiasts and hunters alike.
One of the standout features of the Marlin 336 is its compatibility with rifle scopes, thanks to its solid, flat-top receiver and side ejection design. In 1956, Marlin introduced the Micro-Groove rifling system in the Model 336, which significantly improved accuracy and longevity. This system, which uses an increased number of shallow grooves, provided a smoother bore finish and reduced bore fouling, enhancing overall shooting performance. The Model 336 is also user-friendly when it comes to maintenance, with a design that allows for easy disassembly for cleaning. Unlike many lever-action rifles, the Model 336 can be cleaned from the breech, preventing damage to the muzzle and making maintenance more straightforward. These practical features, combined with its rugged construction, have made the Marlin Model 336 a lasting favorite among firearm enthusiasts.
