*SOLD* 1980 High Standard Olympic .22 Short -OLYMPIC COMMEMORATIVE- Only 1,000

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:

In the 1950s, High Standard adapted their premium target pistols for use with .22 Short cartridges to compete in Olympic rapid-fire shooting events, which were dominated by European-made pistols at the time. In 1960, American shooter Bill McMillan won the rapid-fire competition at the Rome Olympics using a High Standard pistol, cementing the company's reputation in the sport. To commemorate McMillan's achievement, High Standard released a special edition of their pistols in 1980. Only 1,000 of these "Olympic Commemorative" models were made, featuring a “USA” serial prefix and their own serial number sequence. These pistols had stippled backstraps and front straps, integral muzzle brakes, gold-filled lettering (including the five Olympic rings on the slide), and gold-plated small parts.
