*SOLD* 1981 Winchester 94 Carbine .32-40 Win Blue 18.5" *JOHN WAYNE COMMEMORATIVE*
Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Winchester Model 1894 rifle, also known as the Winchester 94 or Model 94, is a lever-action repeating rifle that was designed by John Browning in 1894. It originally used two metallic black powder cartridges, the .32-40 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester, but in 1895, it became the first rifle to use the smokeless powder round, the .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire), which later became known as the .30-30. The rifle was produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company until 1980 and later by U.S. Repeating Arms under the Winchester brand until 2006, when they ceased manufacturing rifles. Reproductions of the rifle are now being made by the Miroku company of Japan and imported into the United States by the Browning Arms company of Morgan, Utah. The Model 1894 is often referred to as the "ultimate lever-action design" by firearms historians and was the first commercial sporting rifle to sell over 7,000,000 units.
John Wayne stood larger than life on the silver screen and just as tall in real life. During his long career, he appeared in more than 150 films and audiences around the world recognized him as the one man who best represented the patriotic spirit of America. His commemorative rifle has become almost as iconic as the man himself and are themselves among the most collected of the Commemoratives, probably the most coveted of them all.
